Let’s just come right out and say it — tank tops are amazing. You can wear them during the summer with just a pair of shorts, and be comfortable and stylish. Furthermore, you can also throw a cool jacket on and wear them for a night out. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, which is why we all have at least a couple in our closets.

Even though tank tops are fabulous, we can all agree that folding them is a huge hassle. That is why we wanted to show you a couple of different tricks on how to fold tank tops.

1.   The Classic Fold

Let’s start with one of the easiest and best tricks for folding tank tops — the classic fold. First, lay your T-shirt down on a smooth, flat surface, and spread it out. Next, fold both sides of the top lengthwise into the center of the top so that the edges of the shirt are touching in the middle.

Once the top is in a rectangular shape, start folding it from the bottom towards the straps. Finally, tuck the straps behind the tank. If you’re pressed for space in your closet, you can fold it in half one more time.

2.   The Quarter Fold

Next up is the quarter fold, where you will once again spread your top out on a smooth surface, facedown. Take your tank top and fold it in half, lengthwise. You can imagine a line going through the center of the top and fold it directly over that line.

Then, take the bottom of your shirt and fold it towards the top, leaving the straps out. Once you’ve done that, you can tuck your straps inside the shirt. If the straps are too wide, you can just lay them over the top and skip the tucking part.

3.   The Square Fold

Put your top on a flat surface, face up. Then, pinch the top at the bottom of the armholes on both sides and pick it up so that the top folds into a straight line. The next step is to fold it lengthwise so that the top looks like a rectangle. Finally, fold it one more time, making a square shape.

4.   The Roll-Up Method

Rolling up your tank top is a great way to save some space and time. You can also use this method if you’re working in retail, and need to fold tank tops for the store display. Start with your top facedown on a flat, smooth surface. Just like in the quarter fold, take your shirt and fold it in half, lengthwise. Then, roll the tank top starting from the straps.
