Who doesn’t love a wavy hairdo in the summertime?
Whether you’re going for hobo-chic or glamorous waves, these hairstyles are bound to make you look stunning! What’s more, they’re incredibly easy to create.
Top 3 Techniques to Get Chic Wavy Hair
There are several techniques to get chic wavy hair. Some people like to flat iron their hair when it’s in braids, while others prefer to use a hair-curler.
However, for those of you that don’t want to torture your long locks with either, these techniques won’t cause any heat damage.
1. Princess Leia Buns Technique
One of my all-time favorite techniques to get stunning waves is with these cute princess Leia buns. Not only do the buns create amazing waves, but the hairstyle itself looks so good that you can easily wear it outside.
All you need are some bobby pins and a hairbrush. Also, if your hair tends to frizz, consider putting some anti-frizz serum on your hair for step #1.
Step #1: Brush Out Your Hair
The first thing you need to do is dampen your hair a bit. Then, give it a thorough brushing. Once you’re done, part your hair down the middle.
Step #2: Section and Twist
Next, you need to section approximately two inches of hair on each side of your parting. Starting from the left side, you should start twisting that section, while also adding more and more hair to it.
When you reach below your ear, continue twisting your hair until you reach its end. Roll the hair you’ve twisted into a bun, and secure it with some bobby pins.
Repeat this process with the rest of your hair.
Step #3: Leave the Buns Until Morning
Once you’ve created the Princess Leia buns, leave them in your hair until the morning. When you take them off, give your hair a good shake. You can also comb it with your fingers, but don’t use a brush. Unless, of course, your goal is to end up looking like Chewbacca!
2. Pin-Up Girl Technique
The pin-up girl technique (also known as the scarf technique) is great for mid-length hair. You will need some texturizing spray, elastic bands and, of course, a long scarf.
Step #1: Prep Your Hair and Scarf
Brush out your hair and apply the texturizing spray on damp hair. Make a low ponytail, and tie the elastic band a couple of inches above the ends of your hair.
Lay out your scarf on a flat surface, find its center point, and tie a knot.
Step #2: Roll Your Hair into the Scarf
Place the scarf behind your head, and flip your ponytail over it. Start rolling the scarf towards the roots of your hair. Once you reach your roots, take both ends of the scarf and tie them into a knot on the top of your head.
Step #3: Leave the Scarf in Until Morning
Leave the scarf in overnight, and unwrap it from your hair in the morning. Shake your hair and bask in the gloriousness of your waves!
3. Scrunching Technique
The scrunching technique is the easiest technique on this list, and it’s great for when you’re in a hurry and need a quick hairstyling trick.
All you need is some volumizing mousse, a towel, and your hands.
Step #1: Wash Your Hair
Give your hair a good rinse, and then apply some volumizing mousse onto it while it’s still wet. Get out your towel and dry your hair as much as possible.
Step #2: Start Scrunching
Bend forward and let your hair fall in front of you. Now, scrunch your hair all the way up to your roots. Do this with all of your hair and then either let it air dry or give it a quick blowdry.
